Measure Windspeed

As part of the GreenWave Project we usually measure the windspeed. This year the GreenWave project is not running but we are still going to go ahead with the project. Check out instructions for how to make an anemometer by clicking on the image below.

After making the anemometers, we took them to the yard and tested them out. There was a big difference on the number of rotations (360 degrees = 1 full circumference = 1 full rotation that each anemometer completed.

anemometeRWe also learned about angles during these lessons:

1. Full Rotation is 360 degrees

2. A right angle is 90 degrees

3. A straight line is 180 degrees (think of hitting the Bulls Eye in darts)

Skipping with Lee James – workshops

This week we have had Lee James in giving skipping workshops to all children from junior infants to sixth class. He was amazed at the standard of the skipping of all of the children. Skipping is a fantastic way of keeping fit and develops pupils: agility, balance and coordination. Later in the afternoon the pupils will put on a show for parents in the hall.
