We spent this afternoon making eye-catching banners for the camogie and hurling finals taking place in Croke Park next week. We practiced chanting, “Let’s Go St. Clare’s, Let’s Go!” while keeping a tapping, clapping beat, and are now really good at it. At home time, we proudly chanted while holding up our banners as those with scooters and bikes passed by our room. We enjoyed this moment a lot and so did the other students passing by. Everyone in Room 18 wishes both teams the very best of luck on Tuesday!
Last Friday the St.Clare’s Camogie Team took part in the annual St.Clare’s Camogie Blitz which was hosted by St. Francis of Assisi Primary School , Keady. Our girls had two teams and we played teams from the other four St.Clares Schools in Newry, Mayobridge, Keady and Cavan town. Unfortunately our team was beaten in a very close semifinal. Afterwards we were all treated to a wonderful lunch and a lovely treat for our journey home. The eventual winners were Cavan and Sr. Declan was on hand to present the winning Cavan team with their medals and the St. Clares Jubilee Cup. While we didn’t win one of our girls was particularly happy because her cousin was a member of the winning team.
The St.Clares Gaelic team starts from 3rd class and goes up to 6th class did Gaelic Football for St.Clares until Christmas 2013 . The boys had training every Tuesday and the girls had training on Monday. The girls had matches every Wednesday and the boys had matches every Thursday. The boys made it to the quarter finals and the girls made it to the semi finals . The final was in Croke Park and we were devastated we didn’t make it . We went to Dolphins Barn for most of our matches and we got there by bus.
