Athletics in Irishtown Stadium

On Friday our complete boys and girls athletics squads took part in a coaching and selection trial in Irishtown  Stadium. We had great fun, having the whole stadium to ourselves and getting to use the excellent facilities. We  practised our hurdles, our long jump, our shot putt, our sprints and our relays. Here are some pictures from our day out. Next stop Santry.

The girls had to run first. We had to run 1 lap and a half. There was a total of 250 girls running in the race. It was quite hard. Next was the boys race. They had to run 2 laps , which was even harder. We then went to Santry on the 26th May and the 28th May.On the first day we did long distance, high jump, long jump, hurdles and shot put. We had three winners on that day. Amin from 4th class doing hurdles and Chris from 5th and Jack from 6th class both doing high jump. They all won bronze. On the second day we did relay and sprints. We had no winners but we tried are best which was the main thing. After that our Athletics was over and we were quite sad but also happy that we were apart of the athletics team 2014.
