In fourth class we have been busy testing our heart rates. Before exercise we tested children’s heart rates using the heart rate monitor. After the exercise we tested them again to see if there was any change in their heart rates. The heart rate monitor told us how many times their heart beat per minute (bpm). Here are some of the results we collected.
Kalya Before exercise 96bpm
After exercise 120bpm
Oliver Before exercise 90bpm
After exercise 130bpm
Declan Before exercise 78bpm
After exercise 135bpm
Oscar Before exercise 150bpm
After exercise 200bpm
We found out that your heart rate changes after exercise. It beats faster. Oscar had a high heart rate before exercise and we know this was because he was nervous and excited about using the heart rate monitor. He was also doing a lot of talking at the beginning!!
For the next few weeks we are hoping to use the heart rate monitor before and after P.E every week.
Here we are balancing, climbing, rolling, crawling and jumping while doing gymnastics in the hall. We loved every PE lesson. They were equally fun, exciting and challenging. We are all excellent gymnasts. Ms. Groarke, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Dillon are very proud of our commitment and bravery, particularly while climbing the highest ladder.
Third class had lots of fun today. Our gymnastics class was eventful and challenging but as you can see was enjoyed by all!
We have had a busy week taking part in the different activities for European Week of Sport. To finish the week off today, 6th class took on the teachers in tug of war. The teachers need to work on their strength as 6th class beat them 2-1. Congratulations 6th class!
2nd to 6th class had a great morning on their walking trip. Helena from Beat the Street joined us on our walk to help us find the Beat Boxes.

Don’t forget your consent form, boot bag and fob tomorrow for our walking trip to find the @BTSDublin Beat Boxes. This trip is for children in 2nd – 6th.
Forth class played uni-hoc today for Try It Tuesday.
