Throughout the last term 2nd class have been working together to write and illustrate a short story. Our finished product is called ‘Panda on the Loose’ and we are delighted to be publishing it today here on the St. Clare’s website.

Panda on the Loose
If you’re still not convinced here is our blurb:
‘Marvin is a boy who is afraid of two things: heights and Giant Panda’s. When he gets stuck in a Helter Skelter slide with a fully grown Panda he thinks things are bad. Little does he know that the evil Mr and Mrs Sykes are way scarier and they are determined to catch the two miscreants. Join Marvin and Zi Zi on this great adventure.’
4th class enjoyed reading their new library books outside this afternoon.
Some wonderful news filtered through this morning that a girl in our class is a national champ in handwriting! We are delighted for her and can’t wait to hear all about the prize giving in the GPO in a couple of weeks time.
We had lots of fun today baking cupcakes. Each of us had a special job to do. Michael read aloud the instructions. Lorchán organised the baking equipment and ingredients throughout. Siluan carefully cracked the eggs and measured the flour using a weighing scales. Seán and Thomas mixed all of the ingredients together. Lastly, Ciarán spooned the mixture into the individual cupcake cases. Together we put the cupcakes in the oven and eagerly monitored the time on the classroom countdown timer. Once cooled down, we ate one delicious cupcake each and brought another home. We were happy boys and are excited to bake again soon.
Fourth class have been invited to take part in a Children’s Art Competition as a part of the Festival of Russian Culture (11th – 18th February 2018). The competition is based on The Goldfish, a story by the famous Russian writer Alexander Pushkin.
The story helped to inspire the students in fourth class to design and create their artwork.

What a fun day with all of our amazing book characters!! I was so impressed with the imagination, effort and creativity that was put into all of the costumes today, you were all brilliant! Well done and I hope all the boys and girls enjoyed it as much as I did!
Today we had our first ‘Book Character Parade’. We all chose a character from our favourite book to dress up as. Everyone put in a huge effort. Well done and Happy Halloween from 3rd class!
