2nd class are getting active every morning by taking part in the 10@ 10. This morning we were stretching up to the ceiling, pretending we were jumping beans and trying to be runner beans!! We love it.
Fifth class started their cycle training today with Noel. Over the next few weeks they will be working on their cycle safety skills.
St Clare’s will be getting active at 10am for 10 minutes every day for 3 weeks!
Operation Transformation will be providing 15 new 10@10 workouts for primary schools across the country.
Would you like to try it at home?
It will be available to download and to stream on the RTE Junior website and on their app. Each of these workouts will be available in English and as Gaeilge.
Check us out participating this morning!
Exercise can be so much fun!
In fourth class we have been busy testing our heart rates. Before exercise we tested children’s heart rates using the heart rate monitor. After the exercise we tested them again to see if there was any change in their heart rates. The heart rate monitor told us how many times their heart beat per minute (bpm). Here are some of the results we collected.
Kalya Before exercise 96bpm
After exercise 120bpm
Oliver Before exercise 90bpm
After exercise 130bpm
Declan Before exercise 78bpm
After exercise 135bpm
Oscar Before exercise 150bpm
After exercise 200bpm
We found out that your heart rate changes after exercise. It beats faster. Oscar had a high heart rate before exercise and we know this was because he was nervous and excited about using the heart rate monitor. He was also doing a lot of talking at the beginning!!
For the next few weeks we are hoping to use the heart rate monitor before and after P.E every week.
Here we are balancing, climbing, rolling, crawling and jumping while doing gymnastics in the hall. We loved every PE lesson. They were equally fun, exciting and challenging. We are all excellent gymnasts. Ms. Groarke, Ms. Kelly and Ms. Dillon are very proud of our commitment and bravery, particularly while climbing the highest ladder.
2nd to 6th class had a great morning on their walking trip. Helena from Beat the Street joined us on our walk to help us find the Beat Boxes.
