STEM Activities in Room 10!

We completed two light experiments last week to show the splitting and mixing of light/colour.

Experiment 1: We made rainbow spinners to show that when the rainbow colours are spun quickly, your eyes can’t keep up and the spinner appears white.

Experiment 2: We explored white light and colour by placing skittles and the outer circle of a plate. We added water and observed what happened. The colours moved towards the middle and created a whirl of colour.

Science Week

Yesterday we had our first Science exhibition of the year. We had great fun showing all of our visitors our project on ‘Electricity’. Our question was ‘How do we get the light at the top of a lighthouse to shine?’. We figured we needed to make a closed circuit. We loved explaining about the various circuits we made, such as series and parallel.  We already can’t wait for the next Exhibition! Take a look at some of the pictures below.

Art in Room 10

We have been busy creating some masterpieces in room 10. We have been concentrating on using line for effect; inspired by Georges Roualt and blending shades of colour in our paintings. We hope you enjoy looking at just some of our  lovely work!

Our Outdoor Classroom!

We liked looking at the mural 4th class made using the bottle tops we collected. We liked looking at where our compost goes and how it is broken down. We loved searching for frogs. We loved the flowers that were made with metal bottle tops that Lauren remembers collecting. Naoise liked the rhubarb because it reminded her of her Nana’s garden. Tadhg loved the seating area because it was made with wood. We can’t wait for our next visit to the Outdoor Classroom!
