Testing for Fat Experiment – 5th Class Room 6


Introduction
How can we investigate if our Lunches contain fat?
Our Hypothesis
The fat will show as a different colour.
Materials
Brown paper,
Products – Stork Margarine, dumplings, mincemeat, raisins, chicken tikka
Bananas, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, bread and wraps
Method
1. Label the brown paper with your name and food type.
2. Place a piece of food on a sheet of brown paper.
3. Fold the paper over the food.
4. Rub the food into the paper.
5. Leave the paper on the window to dry.
Results
1. Stork Margarine, dumplings, mincemeat, raisins and chicken tikka left a stain
on the brown paper.
2. Bananas, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, bread and wraps did not leave a
stain.
Conclusion
1. The food that left a stain contains fat – Stork Margarine, dumplings,
Mincemeat, raisins and chicken tikka.
2. The food that did not leave a stain doesn’t contain fat – Bananas, tomatoes,
carrots, strawberries, bread and wraps.
